The United motors Co. was started back in 1951 and has been through three separate generations of experience in the automotive, as well as the motor cycle manufacturing industries. This company is a family-based company, which is owned by the Villegas family, who has remained completely enthralled in every aspect of the business since their grandfather started the business back in 1951.

This company is one of the largest distributors in Latin America, supplying companies like John dear Toyota, Nissan and General Motors, they also have several of their own assembly plants and in 1966, they also became the largest trailer manufacturer in Latin America.

It would be in 1992 when Juan Villegas, who had been travelling back and forth between China and Taiwan, would decide to enter the motorcycling industry. The company saw a great opportunity in this venture and as a team they agreed to move into full production. In 1992, there are very few Chinese made motorcycles being released to the American continent. As a matter of fact the only true Asian-based motorcycles for Japanese brands.

The company worked hard, and by 1994. They had signed a contract to start producing and introducing Chinese made motorcycles into the Latin American market. A couple of years later in 1997, they were able to start penetrating the US market with their new line of Chinese made motorcycles under the UM badge. They first started mainly in Miami, and working with various manufacturers throughout Asia and utilising their own designs, they were able to start breaching the American market with their Chinese made motorcycles.

Each and every motorcycle undergoes over 250 hours of trial testing. The on road as well as off-road, and they're on road motorcycles, each phase 20,000 miles of testing before they even start going into production.

In 2005, the company signed an agreement with one of the largest power sports manufacturers which made them start creating larger displacement motorcycles. These larger displacement motorcycles included 650 cc engines, which allowed UM Motors to be able to offer some of the cheapest and most affordable street bikes in the North American market.

The concept that this company follows on a daily basis, is based on affordability, quality, value, cutting edge design, customer finance, its warranty protection as well as just plainly being fun. The company now has over 600 line dealerships, as well as 17 distributors throughout the entire world. Three of their 17 distributors are based out of North America alone, which has allowed them to offer an extensive as well as extraordinary detail to service the final product.
