Isuzu is another Japanese vehicle manufacturer that is well known all over the world. As a brand, Isuzu has been popular in the United States as a re-badge of other car models from other carmakers. For example, the Colorado vehicle of Chevrolet has been re-badged as Isuzu i290, while General Motor Corporation's Envoy has been renamed Isuzu Ascender.

While Isuzu Motors Ltd is known in the United States as a re-badge brand, it is widely accepted and recognised in Europe, Africa and Asia as a commercial vehicle maker. As an auto manufacturer, Isuzu is famous for its small trucks and commercial cars. This can be attributed to the fact that sales of the brand's smaller car models have been declining throughout the years.

As a car brand, Isuzu has been originally known for its excellence and skill in manufacturing small to medium automobiles in compact style. The company also is recognised as a maker of commercial trucks in sizes ranging from medium to large. However, it can be noted that different and specific Isuzu models are well patronised in segmented portions of the global car market. For example, in Asia, the brand is synonymous to small to medium sized trucks and commercial transports, while in the United States, no particular Isuzu original model is patronised by the market.

Isuzu's history can be traced back to Japan in the year 1916. Originally, the company was a product of an alliance of Tokyo Gas and Electric Industrial Co and Tokyo Ishikawajima Shipbuilding and Engineering Co Ltd. However, it was only in 1934 that the local government's Ministry of Trade and Industry interceded to change the company's name to Isuzu, which the government body said is a catchier name for a car brand. After all, the name was also derived form the Isuzu River, which is near the original facility of the company.

After several years of productively invading the global car market, Isuzu evolved to be a top-calibre maker of commercial vehicles, passenger cars and sports utility vehicles. There are about 30 car models overall that carry the Isuzu brand name plate. The company is still actively collaborating with other car manufacturers for the development and distribution of new cars and vehicles for future release.

One distinct quality of the Isuzu brand name is its association to resilience. As many know, Japanese car makers are almost always striving to survive outside their home market. But like most of the strong Japanese car brands, Isuzu has been proving that it also got what it takes to become a world recognised car brand.

There are many car brands and models around the world. Thus, there is a stiff competition for consumer attention and patronage. The car industry must be thankful that Isuzu has entered into the fray. Isuzu is one of the car companies that make competition for car brands very interesting. In the end, it is always the consumers who are benefiting from the never-ending breakthroughs and innovation within the global car industry.
