Talk about sports cars and you surely would be talking about only two car brands, namely, Ferrari and its fiercest rival or counterpart the Lamborghini. The history of the latter is something that would surely catch your attention. That history could be more appropriately referred to as an anecdote.

Currently, Automobili-Lamborghini SpA is Italy's top sports car brand that is relied on for its superior performance. The Italian car industry is ever so proud to include such a powerful brand it its rosters. Lamborghini has a humble beginning, but its cars are truly not for the humble-hearted.

As a company, Lamborghini was put up in 1963. The name of the founder was Ferruccio Lamborghini. That time, Mr. Lamborghini was a highly successful businessman and was an owner of a local large tractor making business. Thus, in the early years, the company was also known as Lamborghini Trattori SpA.

Now the myth circulates that Ferrari was directly involved in the establishment of its Italian rival, Lamborghini. It is a fact that the Ferrari was more established and had sales much higher than any other sports car brands in the globe. But Lamborghini has been so swift to move to gain recognition and sales figures.

Rumours have it that Lamborghini the car brand and company was established because Ferrari failed to satisfy a customer. This is how it was reported; Ferruccio Lamborghini personally went to see Enzo Ferrari in the Ferrari factory. The meeting was supposedly to discuss Mr. Lamborghini's complaint over the dysfunctional and unsatisfying clutch in the Ferrari car he owned. But, according to sources, Mr. Ferrari just told Mr. Lamborghini to just drive tractors and avoid driving cars.

The raging Mr. Lamborghini apparently went to his factory and dismantled the Ferrari clutch. He then realised that the clutch's manufacturer was not Ferrari, but was a supplier that also supplies clutches for Lamborghini Tractors' agricultural vehicles. And from there, as people would always say during story telling sessions, the rest was purely history.

Through its entire life span, Lamborghini was able to design, produce and market about 22 car models that started with the 350GTV in 1963 and it has the LM002 SUV, which is set for release in 2009. The car brand is continually striving to make its car line-up truly one of a kind.

To date, Lamborghini is one of the most expensive and most adored car brands and trade names not just in Italy but all around the world. Car exports are directed to some countries, while in some nations, International franchises are already put in place.

The world of cars is a truly modifying and changing landscape. While other car makers have already experienced being on the top and are now on the verge of collapse, Lamborghini has proven its resilience. If you are considering purchasing a sports utility car, choose the Lamborghini. You would surely not resent the fact that you are driving a very fine and luxurious car.
